Many people suffered from nightmares when Trump unexpectedly became president of the most powerful nation in human history.

Unfortunately, similar ghosts may return to haunt them.

The Republican primaries begin today in Iowa.

To remind our international readers, this is the popularity contest in which voters support their favorite celebrity to battle against Biden in November’s general election.

As readers know, I’ve consistently maintained that I’ve never met a Prophet who was capable of putting their hands on a magic crystal ball, and speaking about future events with any meaningful precision – at least within the domain of human affairs.

That is why I generally hesitate to offer predictions.

But last summer, I pointed out that something known as “reality” was precisely contrary to the narrative that MSNBC and many others were pushing at the time (‘Trump might be locked behind bars very soon!’). While condemning the network’s blatant propaganda (see “Will Trump Become President Again?“), I made a certain prediction and justified it without flinching: Barring a very low probability event, Trump was on his way to secure the Republican nomination with the utmost ease, and the general election was a coin toss between him and Biden.

Trump remains smiling and is sailing almost smoothly (the legal cases against him are serious, but will not derail his campaign), given that he remains the undisputed god of the Republican party.

Trump’s poll numbers in a hypothetical match up against Biden show him leading. But it’s equally true that the polling for the general election is still too close (e.g., in swing states) to attach any serious significance to.

Presuming that neither the youthful Biden nor youthful Trump don’t drop dead, as I noted last summer, November’s matchup remains a coin toss.

Let the games begin…

ps. RIP to MLK Jr.
