Will the US go to war against Iran? (Quick Note)

I have often stated that I have yet to meet anyone who was capable of forecasting human affairs with any meaningful precision.

Though given recent developments in the Middle East, today (April 17th, 2024), I think it’s constructive to hold a gun to my head (so to speak), and ask a question that American broadcast media outlets are paying insufficient attention to: Is the United States going to be dragged into a hot war (i.e., not a cold war) against Iran?

Prior to the horrific October 7th (2023) attacks by Hamas on Israel, and after those attacks, the Biden administration made it clear that the US had zero appetite for a war against Iran.

Prior to the very same attacks and subsequent to them, the Iranians made it clear that their hunger for any such war matched that of the Americans – it was non-existent.

Putting all morality aside, both countries have absolutely no strategic interest in engaging in a direct military confrontation.

Given this fact, if the world was even semi-rational, the question of whether a war was possible, let alone likely, would be too absurd to merit attention.

But since we live on a planet where human affairs largely reflect tragic comedy, and serious whiffs of rationality remain rare, it isn’t shocking that psychotic idealogues such as Benjamin Netanyahu occupy high positions of political power.

And in the Israeli Prime Minister’s case, this is a man who has been leading a campaign that has involved killing tens of thousands of innocent Palestinian women and children. Even more viciously, he hasn’t hesitated to use torture (e.g., starvation, which this author views as much more horrific than a bullet to the head).

Netanyahu is a man who has been pursuing his plausible genocide (‘plausible’, according to the ICJ) while not only being fully sponsored by the Biden administration, but not being held accountable in any way when he has violated American interests for over half a year (e.g., decreasing America’s so-called ‘soft power’).

If this very same Netanyahu has been absolutely obsessed with waging a war against Iran for decades, while conveniently dragging in the US, why on earth would he stop now?

Why would he stop after he has seen that US President Joe Biden is a clown that is letting him and his certified fanatical friends do whatever they want?

Why would Netanyahu stop when there is the perfect opportunity to unleash the horror that defines his dreams?

Not only is there no evidence of a Netanyahu dedicated to staying out of a war, but Israel already committed a serious act of war against Iran when recently bombing its embassy. (Nobody in Israel decided to warn the Americans about this, which is tantamount to spitting on their face given the unconditional support.)

And despite the Iranians reacting with an “attack” that was largely symbolic (Iran gave ample warning to the US so that its “attack” would largely be a failure and cause zero casualties), there is no evidence to suggest that Netanyahu will defy his decades long fantasy.

There is absolutely no evidence that sleepy Joe Biden has woken up and finally realized that he is the President of the United States, and not the full-time slave of Israel’s Netanyahu.

There is no evidence of a strong and resolute Biden, representing American interests, and giving tough love to its ally Israel when necessary – as numerous American presidents have done in the past when it came to a direct conflict with Iran.

In the absence of any such evidence, at the time of this writing, it appears more likely than not that Netanyahu and his goons will fiercely pursue a war with Iran with the intention of drawing in the US.

And in the absence of a Biden administration being tough with its ally, and standing tall for American interests, rather than Israeli interests (which may overlap but are hardly identical), we can make a comfortable though imprecise conclusion:

At the time of this writing, it is more likely than not, that a war with Israel and Iran is on the horizon – one in which the US will inevitably be sucked into.
