What can we say about a world in which some political ‘leaders’ intentionally starve babies to death? For no other reason than those babies committing the crime of being born Palestinian?
What can we say about their allies?
Other political ‘leaders’ who provide Netanyahu’s government with full military, economic, and diplomatic support, while it engages in openly committing horrifying war crimes?
And what can we say about Netanyahu’s propagandists? The utter frauds who, even at this stage in raping Gaza, spit out banal talking points that lack elementary coherence, without exhibiting the slightest shame?
While impossible to predict what comes next, my sense is that the worldwide pro-Netanyahu propaganda that has been falling apart will result in lasting anti-Israeli sentiment. Yelling “Hamas is a terrorist organization” (which it is) is not an effective propaganda tactic to address every question serious journalists ask, let alone a coherent response to questioning a policy that is intentionally starving innocent babies and children.
Even idiots can see through the lies.
Concerning Netanyahu’s allies, it’s perhaps crucial to focus on the one country that could stop the atrocities at the snap of a finger: the US.
My expectation is that at least a good number of American politicians that have been vocally supporting Netanyahu’s atrocities will start to be publicly critical of Netanyahu.
It remains to be seen whether the American political class will do more than merely issue cheap condemnations. It remains to be seen just how angry American taxpayers are at the fact that a lot of their money finances Netanyahu’s war crimes, all while far too many suffer from enormous economic hardship.
Simon Mabon, a Professor at Lancaster University, writes that with 60,000 Gazans having been killed, growing numbers dying from hunger and malnutrition, more than 90% of private homes in Gaza being damaged or destroyed, 500,000 people being categorized as facing ‘catastrophe’ (per IPC report), and a further 1.1 million in an ‘emergency’:
“…the world’s leaders look on. Most are apparently content to condemn – but little action has been taken.”
Thus, when we glance at the political world, it appears that the philosopher and statesman, Niccolò Machiavelli, was largely correct when he said: “Titles do not honor men, but men honor titles.”
One hopes that the minority of political leaders who are both enlightened and astute help Gaza out of its torture.
